class during a networking event at Mercedes Benz Stadium

ATLANTA — CodeHouse, the 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on cultivating a strong pipeline between students of color and the technology industry, today announced a new group of groundbreaking partnerships to support the growth of its CodeHouse Scholars Initiative (CHSI) and the organization at large. Joining PayPal, CHSI’s founding partner, are Google, Twitter, Microsoft, and LiveRamp, which have made financial commitments and will put forth diverse employees to participate in CHSI’s 2021 Mentorship Program along with MLT, Jopwell, and Tallo.

“At CodeHouse, our partners are the glue that holds the pieces of our organization together, supporting our mission to get more students of color into the tech industry while ensuring that our Scholars have the tools they need to succeed,” said Tavis Thompson, CodeHouse’s co-founder and vice president. “Together with PayPal, Google, Twitter, Microsoft, and LiveRamp, we’ll be able to bolster CHSI, our future Tech Exposure Days, and so much more. These opportunities directly impact the careers and lives of dedicated students which will in turn help us build a more diverse and inclusive tech workforce.”

CodeHouse’s additional partnerships arrive following the culmination of CHSI’s Summer Bridge Program. During the four-week academy, CHSI’s class of 29 inaugural Scholars — each selected after completing a highly competitive application process — had the opportunity to advance their technical and leadership skills through accelerated academic courses and one-on-one mentorship. They also attended numerous workshops and fireside chats hosted by employees of prominent tech companies, startup founders, and app developers.

CHSI’s class of 29 inaugural Scholars were each selected through a highly competitive application process. They are attending HBCUs within the AUC this fall and major in tech-related fields.

To celebrate Scholars’ achievements as they embark upon their freshman years at Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College, CodeHouse hosted the Welcome to the A: CodeHouse Scholars Reception 2021 at Mercedes Benz Stadium on Sunday, August 29. During the event, Scholars had the opportunity to network with representatives from CHSI’s partners and watch the Atlanta Falcons take on the Cleveland Browns live.
